Yu Zhong is the king of spell vamp. There is no one who can rival his passive. Even Uranus would have a hard time going 1v1 against him. His skills have a very low cooldown so it is easier to just spam his skills and dominate your opponents. If you play him properly then you can easily 1v5 against opponents. Here I will teach you the best build, emblem and gameplay tips and tricks for Yu Zhong.
These are his in-game skills. I have tried to make a simpler version to describe his skills below after the original skills to those which are really hard to understand.
Passive Skill : Cursing Touch
Yu Zhong applies Sha Residue to a target every time he deals damage to enemy heroes and gathers Sha Essence for himself.
Upon reaching 5 stacks of Sha Residue to a target, it will erupt – consuming 1 stack of Sha Residue every 0.5 seconds, dealing 40(+30% Extra Physical Attack) + 2% of the target’s lost HP as Physical Damage, restoring 6% of his HP, and gathering 8 Sha Essence for Yu Zhong.
When Sha Essence is fully charged, Yu Zhong immediately gains 45% Movement Speed and 10% Spell Vamp.
During this period, Sha Essence can be restored by dealing damage to enemies. Movement speed gain will decay rapidly in 2 seconds.
In simple words, every time Yu Zhong attacks his enemies, he will mark them. If the mark reaches a total of 5 then he will trigger his passive where he will restore 8% HP. If he attacks 5 opponents and is able to marks 5 to all of them then he will get 40% of health back.
Every mark also charges Yu Zhong by giving him Sha Essence which is like a power bar. When it is full, he will gain 45% Movement Speed and 10% Spell Vamp.
In the meantime when enemy is marked 5 times he will damage the opponent by dealing 40(+30% Extra Physical Attack) + 2% of the target’s lost HP as Physical Damage and gives 8 Sha Essence.
1. Dragon Tail
Yu Zhong infuses his power into his cloak and turns it into a weapon, which starts to attack enemies after a short delay – enemies in the inner area of the cloak will be dealt 200 / 260 / 320 / 380(+100% Extra Physical Attack)Physical Damage, while enemies in the outer area of the cloak will be dealt 250% damage and apply 2 stacks of Sha Residue for himself.
This skill only benefits 40% of Spell Vamp on Minions.
2. Soul Grip
Yu Zhong unleashes the Dragon Soul, dealing 150 / 175 / 200 / 225(+120% Extra Physical Attack)Physical Damage to all enemies in front and slowing them by 60% for 1 second.
3. Furious Dive
Yu Zhong leaps towards the designated location with his full strength, dealing 180 / 210 / 240 / 270(+90% Extra Physical Attack)Physical Damage and dashing in a specified direction after casting this skill.
This is his dash skill.
After a short delay, enemies within the area of effect will be knocked airborne for 1 second and take 180 / 210 / 240 / 270(+90% Extra Physical Attack)Physical Damage. He is able to dash one more time in the movement direction. Yu Zhong leaps towards the enemy with his full force and makes a circle on the ground. After a delay enemies present inside the circle are knocked up in the air for 1s and dealing a little amount of damage. This is the main CC skill of him which can finish the whole team in one go if used properly.
4. Black Dragon Form
After channeling for 0.6 second, Yu Zhing transforms into the Black Dragon Form for 7 seconds and gaining Crowd Control Immunity, ignores obstacles, and increasing his Max HP by 600 / 800 / 1000(+200% Extra Physical Attack). Meanwhile, if Yu Zhong encounters enemy heroes in his path, he will deal 180/ 245/ 310(+80% Total Physical Attack)Physical Damage and knocking them back.
Upon exiting Black Dragon Form, he will deal same amount of Physical Damage enemies in his area and entering Dragonoid Form for 10 seconds and enhancing his skills: Dragon Tail, Soul Grip, and Furious Dive.
Best Build for Yu Zhong
Yu Zhong needs a count down reduction build. This is so that he can use his skills more frequently to benefit himself from all the Spell Vamp.
The best build for X.Borg includes:
- Raptor Machete
- Magic Shoes
- Bloodlust Axe
- Blade of Despair
- Queen’s Wings
Setup your in-game build just as shown in the image above. His core items are Bloodlust Axe for that extra 20% spell vamp and Oracle to enhance his regeneration effect when he is able to mark enemies 5 times. Like I said before, this build focuses on skill cooldown reduction. You can get a 40% cooldown reduction from this build which is the maximum allowed cooldown in the game.
Start by building Raptor Machete to the second tier. This will help you to farm faster. After this, if you are having a hard time in the game then build Blood Lust Axe to get more spell vamp so that you can have a good sustain but if you are winning then build Magic boots for extra cooldown reduction and movement speed.
Now build Blade of despair for that extra punch when attacking. If you are having trouble in the late game then go for Oracle if not go for Queen’s Wings.
Battle Spell for Yu Zhong
For Battle spell, I recommend Flicker and Retribution.
Flicker will help you to get out of a sticky situation, chase an enemy or bring an element surprise by appearing out of nowhere.
Yu Zhong lacks speed so most of the times its easier for enemies to escape with health so low even a minion would be able to kill it.
So i pick flicker for its multi purpose benefits.
Retribution is the best tool for farming. For any hero, if you farm quickly and out farm enemies then you will surely destroy them.
This will help you to build your core items much quickly. Also, this will be able to use on enemy heroes after building Raptor Machete.
If you time it properly then you will also be able to steal enemies buff or lord or turtle. That will be a positive gain to the team.
Best Emblem for Yu Zhong
Here i have listed two of the emblems and also discussed which you should be picking.
Fighter emblem with Festival of Blood is the best emblem for Yu Zhong. Festival of Blood can give a maximum of 20% Spell vamp so at the maximum you can get a total of 50% of spell vamp with bloodlust axe and his passive. You will have an insanely high sustain because of this configuration. Set up your emblem just like the picture above and you will be fine.
Assassin emblem will work for almost every hero. Yu Zhong has a very low movement speed. So we can improve that by giving a total of 8% movement speed in the first tier. Follow that with physical penetration in the second tier to deal more damage. Keep your last talent as Killing Spree because it will give you health and movement speed if you kill an enemy.
Gameplay Tips and Tricks
Yu Zhong is one of the latest heroes who immediately entered the current META. He is a perfect side laner because he can kill minion waves really fast and in a 1 vs 1 situation just destroy the enemy.
Discuss with your team and solo one lane. It does not matter if you go top or bottom. Take out minion waves first. The first two waves will give you a lot of gold.
After that contest for the crab and keep clearing minion wave of your lane. Check how the mid lane is doing. If they need help and your lane is safe then go-to mid lane, help them and return.
Try not to die. If there are 3 enemies trying to destroy your lane then just play defensively. Ask for help but don’t die a useless death.
Keep farming and clear minion waves and then join the gank. But don’t forget to push. We win by pushing.
Yu Zhong is a very squishy fighter. His passive can activate only when he can hit enemies so those who he cant hit multiple times will have a higher chance to kill you. If the enemy uses items or skill with anti regeneration capability then Yu Zhong will be in big trouble.
He is very weak against Baxia, Wanwan, Alucard, Granger, Claude, Hanzo and most of the assassins.
He is strong against a lot of heroes like Zilong, Chou, Terizla, Badang, Cecillion, Aurora, Valir.
That’s it for this article! I hope it helped you to be better at playing Yu Zhong.
See you in battle!
